Guess-What-I-Saw Friday

Let's start with a house update for those of you who have been waiting with baited breath.

Wait.  I'm probably the only person waiting with baited breath.  Maybe that's because I can't wait to move in--and we haven't even started on the actual house part yet.

What IS finished at this point is what will be the basement.  They poured the floor today (See it?  See it?  SEE IT?!).  Minus a small area (yes, the walkout is still there, Mom), this is the entire basement.

This is the garage floor, and allow me to say that I'm unnaturally excited about having a garage.  People who don't understand that excitement have never bought a new car and then groaned over a weather forecast that included hail.

They've also never bemoaned the constant frost that requires more forethought in the morning that I can generally manage.

But the basement hasn't been my only source of joy for the past two days.

Chris went to Cape with me today and graciously allowed me some time in Target.

And what good is a visit to Target if you don't try on a few hats?

This one was actually a key lime green.  Unfortunately, it didn't fit hubby's head.

This one (number 2) actually reached ghetto-fabulous--which is totally what we were going for.  He's beautiful, no?

And admit that this one looks like it fits his head a little better than key lime deliciousness.  (Note to you:  Neither one fit his head at all.  Hubby has a huge noggin.  Don't hate.)

Yesterday I had the opportunity to hang out with a friend and shop for some new clothes.  I really like to shop, but I'm in a love/hate relationship with my body due to some health difficulties so finding things that fit the way I want them to can be more than disheartening.

Add to this the fact that I am actually pretty girly at heart.  I try to pretend that I'm not high-maintenance, but I do have an affinity for make-up.  I like my hair to look nice, and I LOVE dresses.  Don't get me wrong; I'm a sucker for a good pair of jeans.  But there's nothing like a cute sundress to make you feel pretty.

Here's the problem:  I'm super pale (think Vampire...thankfully they're popular right now, so maybe my skin color is in vogue for the first time since the Renaissance?).  That means my legs are approximately the color of paper, and my bottom half is a lot more substantial than I care to admit (but shout-out to the nice lady at the DMV who is willing to take the answer "it's close" when it comes to the info on the front of my license!).  Anyway, with all of those factors to consider, you could see why I'm picky about how long the dress is.  Thankfully, I found two SUPER cute ones at Old Navy and they hit right in the middle of my knee--PERFECTION :)
PLUS, I got to buy two new cardigans (3/4 sleeves) to go with--and if you know me very well, you know that I would own a million cardigans of this type.

I heart them.

A lot.

Not kidding.

PLUS (yep, a lot of addition here for an English teacher), I can wear my super fun yellow jewelry with this first outfit.

HOLLA!

The second cardigan has fun frillies along the neck and buttons, which is a girly flair I'm SO willing to enjoy.

But while I enjoyed all of these things, they are not the point of this post today.  Since I live where I do, and have the sense of humor I do, I see a lot of interesting stuff.  Instead of making those pieces of "interesting" a part of regular posts, I thought I would add a "Guess-What-I-Saw Friday" segment for those of you who might find things as humorous as I do.

So, without further delay...

GUESS WHAT I SAW?!

You might not think this is unusual, but I encourage you to take another look.  That, ladies and gentlemen, is a cake.  Yep.  A cake.  Shaped and iced like a hamburger.  With (what looked like) pound cake french fries.  And red icing for ketchup.  Nothing like taking an all American (well, actually, German) treat to the next level.

All I can say is God bless the USA.

So ashamed that I didn't know you had a blog, but I love it. Love the key lime deliciousness comment. Laughed so hard I accidentally lost the page. Found it again and laughed some more.
